Page replacement algorithms - In a computer operating system which utilises paging for virtual memory memory management, page replacement algorithms decide what pages to page out (swap out) when a page needs to be allocated. That happens when a page fault occurs and free page cannot be used to satisfy allocation (either because there are none, or because number of free pages is lower than some threshold).
